Fascinating effects were created here. Do you spray with a fixative to secure the textures of a dry wash?
Hi Edith,
Many people prefer to use fixative to “fix” and image. I personally stay away from fixative if possible since it can change the value of the image.
could one use pan pastels instead of shaving?
Hi, thank you for this video. I wonder what happens with the excess of powder if you don’t use fixative. I tried to use very smooth pastels but when I put away the excess of power, the drawing seems very different and too light.
Hi Chantal, If you use a heavily textured paper, the pastel will stay in place a bit easier. You may also need to layer several applications and work them into the tooth of the paper to preserve color intensity.
Hi Matt, after applying the dry wash is it ok to pastel pencils or other mediums over the top without fixing? thanks.
could one use pan pastels in lieu of shaving/
