The Watercolor Workshop Modules

The Watercolor Course

As most of you are probably aware, the next course is right around the corner for members. You guys voted, and a course on watercolor painting was the resounding winner!

It is my goal to provide you with the instruction that you want, so the watercolor course is in the works with modules to be released later this month (December 2014). The course will be called “The Watercolor Workshop” and it should be a great addition to the other courses that are already available to members.

But before I go too deeply into production, I want to share the planned modules with you. I want to hear from you, and I want your input.

As it stands, the course will feature 15 total modules (videos and ebooks). The 15th module not listed is the “Conclusion”, which will be a short recap of the course.

Take a look at the planned modules below and let me know if there’s anything that you’d like me to add or to adjust. I’m not promising anything, but your input is important to me. Just leave your ideas, comments, and suggestions in the comments section below the post.

Lesson Discussion

      1. Line up looks good, would love to see some animal and flower modules. Can’t wait to get started.

  1. Hi Matt… this is gonna be a great course! Something I hope you will touch on is how to use watercolor with CP to create backgrounds like sky or for other large areas of color. And what kind of paper would be best for mixed media like watercolor and CP? Thanks!

  2. Hey Matt,
This looks wonderful! I can’t wait to get started. One thing I would like to see is some instruction on painting water scenes. If the landscape modules don’t cover this, perhaps a live lesson somewhere down the road? Thanks!

  3. im interested very much in alla prima, loose watercolor and all kinds of mixed media like watercolor and WP/pen&ink/oil pastel/soft pastel/acrylic..and i’d like a bird in still life)

  4. Hi Matt,
I agree this course looks like it will be challenging and fun. Perhaps a lesson on how to display finished pieces? Thanks so much!

  5. Hi Matt,
I love the way the modules set up. I can’t wait to get started with it.
I have a suggestion for a subject for the watercolor pencils, a bird on a perch.
I have a suggestion for a subject for the gauche demonstration, a floral.

  6. Hai,i love it, but i missed a module about the sea. I can’t wait to begin. Greatings from carla from the netherlands.

    1. Hi Carla,
That’s a good suggestion. We’ll definitely look at painting water.

  7. Matt have have you used acrylic paint washes between layers of watercolor? I read that it helps keep the watercolor in place as more washes are added. It would be interesting to add a quick demonstration of the technique in your workshop.

  8. Thanks Matt! How about adding a lesson on using acrylics, especially fluid acrylics, as watercolors?

  9. Hi Matt, Great that you are doing a water color course! One subject which would be good to see is anything of a botanical nature,i.e flowers, etc. May be in the still life section? Looking forward to the course as all the others have been brilliant
