Lesson Description

A look at creating a painting made of polymer clay. Values of polymer clay are mixed and applied to a rigid surface to create a "painting" that is made of physical textures. In this lesson, we create a polymer clay portrait of a young girl.

Lesson Materials

Polymer clay, gessoed masonite board, photo manipulation software (optional), graphite pencil, ruler or meter stick, and a palette knife (optional).

  1. I worked with polymer clay before I tried painting so I have experimented using clay for a picture. I did one called under the sea where I fashioned different things out of clay and other stuff. It turned out quite well.
