Oil pastels are a great drawing medium for creating quick and colorful images that can translate as paintings. They can be used on a variety of surfaces including canvas. Oil pastels are inexpensive and available at every art store making them accessable to just about anyone.
It can be difficult to create details with oil pastels. Most brands of oil pastels are manufactured as sticks. They are extremely soft and do not hold a point for very long. Because of this, it makes sense to approach oil pastel drawing loosely.
