??? I am a VERY new member and have a question about the different sides of Bristol paper....smooth or textured side? Or is it the individuals preference? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi I'm new also,  I think you have to consider what it is you are drawing and if it needs the textured side to help show the real texture you are trying to represent. But again I'm new to the drawing world so I could be wrong ???

I imagine a lot would depend on the medium e.g. Pencil, pen, brush, ink, watercolour, washes etc.

I'll add a question to this.

I've been using Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper for my coloured pencil drawings.  But now that I am looking for a tinted variety, I am finding it difficult.  Without a local art shop to go and sample, and living in the UK, I am rather limited to places like Amazon(.co.uk).  Has anyone got any recommendations for tinted paper I could use for coloured pencil, that is easily ordered/affordable in the UK?

try searching the .co.uk amazon for grey or gray drawing paper and see what you find. You may get lucky.
