The first drawing that I'm actually happy with
« on: April 24, 2015, 03:10:25 AM »
Every drawing I've ever drawn has had something wrong with it that I didn't like. This one I tried to keep everything Matt taught us in mind. For some reason it caused a lot of lights to come on. A lot of things that used to give me a fit are making sense now. I feel much more confident. I know by most standards it's still very basic but for me it's a milestone.
Thanks, Matt.

Great job George!  I can see that it's all starting to come together! You did a great job creating contrast with the graphite!

Thanks, Matt. Faces seem to be my week point so I'm more or less forcing myself to draw only faces right now. It's amazing how the tiniest detail make all the difference between the likeness of a person that's recognizable and a generic image. Try as I might I just can't get it right. I can see improvement in very portrait I draw but still  none of them resemble the subject. I measure, use dividers, even use my artograph and still I can't get it right. This one is the closest yet.

Every drawing is practice foe the next one.
