Module 21 - Facial proportion - help please.
« on: March 21, 2015, 03:55:44 AM »
I followed Module 21 but use one of my picture for a self-portrait. The end result doesn't look anywhere close to the picture of reference. The one thing I like is the hair, it seems OK.

The drawing looks older and sad. How can I capture the smile that come through on the photo reference?
The nose is too fat but I don't know how to fix it.
Any suggestion to improve on this drawing will be welcome!
Thanks,
Isabelle

Hello,

Did you use the grid method described in one of the secrets videos. That might help with the proportions.

It definitely helped me

The problem may not be the nose.

Start with the eyes - in the reference photo the distance between the eyes is one eye. If you measure across one eye-width from the eye in your drawing, you'll find that point comes to rest halfway across the next eye, not at the corner.
