the fluid masking liquid is SO thick! is there something i can do so that this stuff will spread right? This is a new bottle btw. thanks  :P :-[

I understand exactly what you are experiencing and surprised no one has answered you. I generally am not a big masking fluid user but sometimes you need to use it. I bought a rubber nub (Micheal's or Hobby Lobby) that is used for pushing paint (acrylic I believe) which is great for masking fluid application. With the masking fluid, I pour some and mix it with water (shake bottle first). I also apply soap (generally baby shampoo...which I also clean my brushes with) to my applicator as it keeps the fluid from sticking to the applicator and makes for easy clean clean up.
I hope this helps and you are still with The Virtual Artist. I am also teaching myself watercolor as well, coming from an oil background, I find Matt's teaching style excellent! :)
