After the hummingbird...
« on: January 27, 2015, 03:25:14 PM »
I followed along with the hummingbird tutorial, which is one of the few using the Faber Castell Polychromos pencils, and it turned out well.  I sent it to my Grandmother, who now has it on her wall.  My Dad then demanded a kingfisher.  He likes to fish.  So I found a lovely reference photo with 2 kingfishers (one facing the camera, one facing sideways, so I got both the blues and the oranges to work with).  Here's the result.  Thanks Matt, for inspiration.  This was scary, as it was the first time I had done one of these without a step by step video to follow!

It's not perfect.  I'll need to watch my proportioning next time.  But I'm happy with it and will definitely be doing more!

Thank you both.

I hope my Dad likes it.  He's on business in the Sates at the moment, so I'll have to wait until he gets back.

In the mean time... I need a frame.
