Jesus on the Cross Painting / Palette
« on: November 11, 2014, 03:20:33 PM »
I tried to capture the essence of Scripture which reads, "He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him." Painted on 12 x 12 canvas with acrylics, I used several different sized palette knives to create this almost startling image of Christ on the Cross. The color of red in the painting solemnizes the blood & one side of His lip is painted to look swollen. His eyes are blackened & sad, His body broken & His face unrecognizable. I took the edge of a palette knife & made random straight marks at the bottom of the painting & in a few other areas. All in all, I like how the painting turned out. Comments/critiques always welcome. Thanks.

i like it! I think that the background must be a little softer to provide more the foreground. Nice colors anyway!
