First Attempt Portrait (graphite)
« on: October 14, 2014, 12:03:15 PM »
I had to work up courage to post this, because it is not a very good job. I didn't post the reference photo, because frankly I think my drawing sucks! When I can get a better likeness, I'll re post. The reason I posted this, Is because I'm hoping for suggestions on how to improve the hair, shading, and the rest of the facial parts.

Well, everything's where it ought to be, which is a good position to be in.

Keep at it; just like music - you get good at what you practise.

This is not bad at all. There is life in this portrait. Everything is done quite well considering this is your first. Don't be so hard on yourself. You show great potential in portrait drawing. I would say keep it up & continue on.

Thanks for the kind words!.
I am very disappointed with the drawing. It get the feeling of overall messy when I look at the drawing. I've got a long way to go, but I don't see the path to get there.
I can see the lashes need work (practice), the shading needs work (practice), The folds in the clothing (???), the hair (???), messy (totally lost)
