Portrait in Coloured Pencil
« on: September 11, 2014, 12:47:11 PM »
After studying along with Matt in the Coloured Pencil - Portrait Modules, here is my first. . . yep that's right, my very first portrait using coloured pencils! I know I messed on the hair at the bottom. . . guess I was getting tired. . . oops!
All comments and criticisms are most welcome. . . . . please, tell me what you think!

Thank you Holt and yes, yes, yes, get some CP's it's sooo much fun!!!
Matt has awesome lessons and is, by the way, the only one who gives detailed instruction on the use of CP's. I searched long and hard before I found him!!!

Thank you DOTS, this one was a bit difficult, lots and lots of layers and lots of starting and stopping Matt while I tried to get it right.  ;D Keep up with your CP's you will find that it gets easier and easier the more you work at them and I'm sure if you follow Matt's videos you will be able to do great stuff. Waiting to see some of your work!!. . . . . no pressure though!! ;D

love the overall expression and tonal quality of the piece.  my only critique would be to add shadow areas to the whites of the eyes and teeth and go a bit darker towards the edges (depending on the light source).  its really, really good for a first piece.  My first (and only) colored pencil portrait took forever to complete due to the number of layers and constant sharpening of the pencils but i really like the end result.  however, i don't have the patience to do that very often so i tended to stay more with charcoal portraiture.  keep up the good work!  nicely done!
