Can anybody share info on working on  black (or very dark) paper or board with colored pencil? What brand of paper / pencils do you use? Do you need to lay down a white layer first? Any tips?

I have a colored pencil portrait that has many layers of color. I think the portrait overall is too dark. I want to lighten some places. The paper wont accept any more layers. Is there anything I can do?

"You are lying. This can not be a colored pencil drawing." said XpP with envy .

Amazing job. Can you give as some close-ups?

Hi all   Maybe youd like to run over to my colored pencil underpainting for a portrait and take a look.  On Tuesday I will be posting the finished color portrait.  I usually lay down a white underpainting when working on black then work from light to dark with my colors.  I have a pretty light hand so usually dont do burnishing.  Havent tried the watercolor colored pencils on black yet, think thats is where I am headed for the rest of the evening  See ya all later
