Painting in General / Re: window painting

Hi Marcia,

I've never painted on glass, but maybe I can give you some options.  The glass is not porous like the surface of a paper so it will behave differently.  Acrylics will stick but may peel off as will tempera paint.  There are manufacturers that make special paints for painting on glass.  I used to work at an art store in college and they were in a completely different section than the regular paints.  I'm not sure why they choose to do that, but anyhow the paints were generally all enamel paints.  Some of the paints are transparent while others are more opaque.  These are all permanent solutions, so if you are looking for a temporary solution don't go this route.  The brands I remember are Vitrea and Deltaperm.

Graphite / Re: Sharpening pencils

Hi Creekside,

There are several ways that I sharpen a pencil.  Often just a simple metal handheld sharpener does the trick, but if I want a really sharp tip, I'll use an exacto knife.  You can also use a plank with sandpaper stapled to it.  They sell the sandpaper contraptions at most art stores.  Hope this helps.

I've been thinking about getting a new drawing tablet.  Any suggestions on what I should look at getting?  I'll be glad to do a review of it once I've got it.

Thank you so much.  I'm glad you are enjoying the tutorials.

I hear you on some of the music with some of the tutorials.  I've since toned things down with the music. On some of the earlier videos, I got a bit carried away. :o

I'll look at doing more figure drawing oriented things in the future.

Two weeks ago the live lesson featured figure drawing (you can check it out here-> and I'm just a couple of videos away in "The Secrets to Drawing" from covering figure drawing. So be on the look out for that one.

The live lesson tonight will be on white charcoal on black paper.  I'll be drawing an elephant.  Look forward to talking to you soon!
